You gotta listen to this one: "The Trip" by rock n' roll impresario and all-around character Kim Fowley. In his lengthy and rather strange career, perhaps the strangest thing he ever did was this bizarre song put out in 1965 (!) Check out these lyrics:
Groovy indeed. Especially those silver cats and emerald rats!Summer time’s here kittiesAnd it's time to take a trip, to take a tripThis world's so bad, you feel so sadYou gotta take a trip, into a world so gladA world of frogs, and green fountainsAnd flying dogs, and silver cats, and emerald ratsAnd purple clouds, and faceless crowdsAnd walls of glass, that never passAnd pictures hanging upside downYou won't ask, where you are, It's another worldYou and your girl, and all your friends,Whoa! Will all be thereOh yeah!Let's take a trip, let's take a tripT.N.T., S.O.S., H.O.B., T.O.P.It's top, it's topHey here we go now, let's climb some mountains everybodyGet on your walking shoes, let's climb some mountainsHere we goLet's take a trip, let's take a tripAnd start to dream, let's close your eyesIt's groovy now, yeah!
